Book Awards Ease the Cost of Textbooks for Honors Program Students

Each year, Point Park University's Honors Program recognizes honors students who have earned outstanding grades while maintaining active involvement in the program's activities with Book Awards.

The goal of Book Awards is to ease the cost of textbooks and promote continued contributions to the many Honors Program and Honors Student Organization events.

For the 2016-17 academic year, 18 students qualified with the highest QPAs as well as recorded participation in service, academic or social events sponsored by the program.

Some of those events and activities included staffing a water station at Pittsburgh's Great Race, raising $1,200 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, collecting toys and monetary donations for The Alliance, traveling to New York City for an Alternative Spring Break that focused on an advocacy project this year, and collecting toiletries and other items for Pittsburgh's Operation Safety Net.
