"I never thought I would be one of those students who switched majors after their freshman year, but I was wrong. I learned that at the end of the day, it's not about how much money you're going to be making, but if you're going to be happy with what you're doing 30 years from now."
Why did you choose Point Park University?
I chose Point Park because of the location - I absolutely love Pittsburgh! After getting admitted and taking a campus tour, I knew this school was the right choice for me. The professors are absolutely incredible. They have so many connections and care about the success of their students.
How did you choose your major?
I have changed my major three times now. I never thought I would be one of those students who switched majors after their freshman year, but I was wrong. I learned that at the end of the day, it's not about how much money you're going to be making, but if you're going to be happy with what you're doing 30 years from now.
Tell us about your experience as a student-athlete.
I didn't get an offer from Point Park to play volleyball right out of high school. I actually turned down an offer from another university to come here and focus on my studies. The spring semester of my freshman year there was an open tryout for the junior varsity team and I decided to go because I missed playing so much. I ended up making the junior varsity team and it was the best decision ever - it allowed me to make new friends and play the game I love. Juggling classes, practices and games can be challenging, but I wouldn't trade it for anything!
What's the best part about summer in Pittsburgh?
This is my first summer staying in Pittsburgh. So far, I like adventuring on my runs around the city and the Thursday Farmer's Market in Market Square.
What's your go-to meal Downtown?
My go-to meal in the city is definitely a spicy salmon avocado roll from Sushi No. 1.
What advice do you have for incoming students?
Get involved! There are more than 50 clubs on campus, so find something you like and get out there. Also, don't be afraid to be yourself and work hard. "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard." - Tim Notke
