Honors/Awards: NAIA scholar-athlete, Dean's List and Point Park's men's basketball record holder for making 279 three-point field goals throughout college career
How have your M.B.A. classes helped you in your current position?
They have given me more awareness, preparation and understanding of the international business world. The classes also helped me with my communication and presentation skills that I often use in my current position as an account executive.
Why did you decide to continue at Point Park for a master's degree?
I landed a graduate assistantship which gave me the opportunity to go straight through and earn my M.B.A. degree. It was great to get both degrees completed while I was still young and had my youthful energy. I also feel earning two degrees better prepared me for my career.
What were some of your favorite college experiences, both undergrad and grad?
Being involved in athletics at Point Park was a great experience. The basketball team had a successful season during my senior year. Our record was 29-1 and we were invited to a national tournament in Branson, Mo.
I also enjoyed living on campus in Downtown Pittsburgh. Although I'm from the Pittsburgh area, I still learned a lot about the city through the "Introduction to Pittsburgh" course I took. Point Park has great professors and I got to know many of them personally. I also liked that the M.B.A. program was challenging and comprised of meaningful projects. The professors did not give us busy work because they understood that many of us were working in full-time or part-time jobs while going to school.
What are your career goals?
I would like to continue to succeed in my current position and eventually work in a management role.
What advice do you have for undergrad students considering an M.B.A. degree?
It is definitely worthwhile. I was glad I got my M.B.A. degree early in my career and now I can add my experience on top of it. Earning an M.B.A. degree will make you a great candidate for jobs and will set you apart from other applicants in the market.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I enjoyed all my six years at Point Park. With the urban living and small class sizes, Point Park offers a unique college environment you can't get anywhere else.
