Rowland School of Business' Women in Industry Announces 2021-22 WIN Wednesdays and Fireside Fridays Series Monday, October 18, 2021
"Personally, if I can positively impact one individual’s life, I have succeeded. Change begins with each individual."
Women in Industry, a Rowland School of Business initiative which seeks to accelerate the success of women-identified students and professionals, will focus on holistic resilience during their 2021-22 WIN Wednesdays and Fireside Fridays free virtual speaker series, featuring such guests as:
- Tracey McCants Lewis, deputy general counsel and director of human resources for the Pittsburgh Penguins
- Myah Irick, senior vice president of The Irick Group at Merrill Lynch
- Jennifer Ferris-Glick, owner of ABOVE to BELOW
- Kimmi Baston, managing director of Strong Women Strong Girls
- Britney Brinkman, Ph.D., associate professor psychology and director of Point Park's Psy.D. program
The series is organized by Dorene Ciletti, Ph.D., associate professor and director of Point Park's marketing and sales program, and Sandra Mervosh, M.S., SHRM-SCP, SPHR, assistant professor and director of the human resources management program, who also serve as speakers for the series.
"Our goal is for women-identifying students, professionals and community members to develop holistic resilience tools that will enable them to transform and thrive in all aspects of their lives in a dynamic and often challenging world," Mervosh said. "Personally, if I can positively impact one individual’s life, I have succeeded. Change begins with each individual."
Both professors incorporate takeaways from WIN sessions into class discussions and assignments in their courses, helping students to connect theory to real-world application.
"The sessions allow us to illuminate relevant topics that support both personal growth and career readiness for our students," Ciletti said. "The topics directly or indirectly connect with content in many of our courses and provide additional resources in and outside of the classroom."
Pam Quatchak, assistant director of online student advising, attended several of last year's sessions.
"I took away practical tips for navigating careers and the business world, saving for retirement and growing personally and professionally; However, for me, the most valuable lesson was realizing other women are tackling the same challenges I am and the importance of mentorship and building support networks for women," she said.
