"Studying abroad is an experience that I recommend for everyone. It allows you to open your eyes to a different way of life that we do not experience in the U.S., and it inspires a passion for traveling. I have gained skills in communication, cooking and more, which I will always carry with me."

What made you want to study abroad in Rome?

Ever since I was in high school I knew that I wanted to study abroad. Italy was my number one destination. Rome was the perfect location because of how much the city has to offer. Each day I was able to see a new piece of Roman history.

What was an average day like for you while you were there?

During the weekdays I would go to class, explore the city and enjoy a delicious meal every night. My coursework included Food and Wine in Italy and The Art and Architecture of Rome. On the weekends I was able to travel the whole country of Italy. I explored all of Rome, and I visited the Amalfi Coast, Capri, Sorrento, Pompeii, Tivoli, Florence, Milan, Lake Como and Venice. Every single part of my trip was amazing. One of my favorite days was exploring the island of Capri on a speed boat. Swimming through the caves was magical!

How has this experience enhanced your education and skill set?

Studying abroad is an experience that I recommend for everyone. It allows you to open your eyes to a different way of life that we do not experience in the U.S., and it inspires a passion for traveling. I have gained skills in communication, cooking and more, which I will always carry with me. Studying abroad allowed me to become a more culturally aware and understanding person, both professionally and personally. It has also made me eager to travel more. Seeing how beautiful other cultures has made such an impact in my life.
