The Pennsylvania Association of Elementary and Secondary School Principals recently named Eric W. Stennett, Ph.D., adjunct instructor in the education department at Point Park University, the 2013 Middle School Level Principal of the Year.

Stennett is the principal of Hampton Middle School in Allison Park, Pa. As principal, he enhanced the school's bullying prevention program and integrated technology across all content areas through the integration of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) strategies.

In addition, Stennett has helped develop the school principal certificate program at Point Park University and Carnegie Mellon University and teaches education graduate courses in leadership and instructional supervision. He also serves on the undergraduate and graduate advisory councils at Point Park.

As Pennsylvania's Middle Level Principal of the Year, Stennett will go on to compete for the National Middle Level Principal of the Year award later this year. Stennett earned his bachelor's degree from Wittenberg University, his master's degree from Wright State University and his doctoral degree from Nova Southeastern University. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1998 to 2003.
