Family Weekend online registration is scheduled to be open from Tues., Sept. 1, through Fri., Oct. 2, 2015. Registration is subject to early closure if the event sells out, so make your plans early!
Planning Your Visit
Visit the Schedule of Events page to plan your family's activities and events before beginning the registration process.
Discuss your plans with your student to make sure they will be available. While Saturday's accelerated classes are on break on Oct. 10, all other classes, rehearsals, athletic games, work obligations, etc. are still taking place, and your student may have obligations they must meet.
Please let us know if someone in your family requires special accommodations for the events on campus. For more information about special accommodations at off-campus events such as the Heinz History Center, Men's Soccer match at Highmark Stadium, or Pittsburgh Zoo, please visit their websites or contact them directly.
The Family Weekend registration fee is $10 per person and includes admission to the following events and activities:
- Welcome reception
- Dance and theatre performances
- Student film screenings
- Student photo gallery exhibit
- Family Weekend courtesy shuttle for exploring some of Pittsburgh's shopping districts (Saturday afternoon)
- Cross Country meet
- Men's Soccer match
- Java & Jazz in the Park
- Hotel shuttle (Friday and Saturday evenings)
- Point Park Family Brunch
While the cost of admission to all of the above is covered by your registration fee, you must indicate the number of tickets needed for each event you wish to attend. In addition, Point Park students attending Family Weekend events will need to be registered and pay the $10 per person fee. Please note that registration and discount ticket fees are non-refundable.
You may also purchase discount tickets at the time of registration for the following venues:
- Heinz History Center - $5/person
- Students with a Point Park student ID may enter for free and will not need a ticket
- Regular admission to the History Center ranges from $6.50 to $16/person
- Children ages five and under are free
- Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium - $10/person
- Regular admission to the zoo ranges from $13 to $15/person for ages two and up
- Children under two are free
- You will need to purchase tickets for all family members who wish to visit the zoo, including Point Park students
It is also important that you check in for Family Weekend in order to pick up your welcome packet, which will contain all of your tickets for the weekend's events. If you do not have tickets for the zoo or History Center, you will need to pay the admission price upon entrance to those venues. Lost tickets may not be able to be replaced.
The fees are paid by credit card at the time of registration; please have your credit card available before proceeding. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.
Ticket Limitations & Sold Out Events
Please be aware that some activities are offered multiple times, such as the dance/theatre performances and the student film screenings. All performances and screenings are the same, and while we encourage families to participate as much as they would like, there are a limited number of tickets for many events.
So that all families have the opportunity to attend the various activities, each family is limited to one performance or viewing, when more than one is offered.
Families who decide not to attend an event for which they have tickets are asked to turn them in at check-in so other families may use them. Families who would like to attend additional performances or screenings, or obtain tickets to sold out events, should inquire at check-in to see if any tickets may have become available. If there are any empty seats at a performance after all ticketed guests have been seated, we will be happy to seat guests without tickets.
Registration Process & Confirmation
Once you click on the registration link below, you will have created a new registration; however, your registration is not complete until you have successfully completed the entire process, including payment (you will need to pay by credit card at the time you register). Once your registration is finalized, a new window will open in your browser confirming this. You may view, print, and/or save your confirmation, which is a pdf file, at this time. A confirmation will not be emailed to you.
Once you submit a registration for your family, you are not able to make changes to it; please contact the Office of Student Affairs to discuss the change and best course of action.
