The Faces of Bullying

Tuesday, September 11, 2012
On Friday, September 14th at 6pm, Point Park University will host an exploration of the faces of bullying.

Presented by 91.3fm WYEP, 90.5 WESA, and Essential Pittsburgh, the forum will be held at Point Park's George Rowland White Theater in University Center and will focus on how students interact when bullying occurs and what can be done to help.

Personal stories from students will be provided by Hear Me, an organization that amplifies kids' voices using media and technology, giving them the power to inspire social change. Christina Hostutler from Outreach Teen & Family Services will talk about the psychology of bullying.  Dorothy Devlin, a trainer and consultant of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program in three school districts throughout the Pittsburgh region will offer up some of the region’s best practices in solving this problem: using face-to-face interaction to restore the humanity of students.  Finally, Debbie Maier Jacknin, Executive Director of The Holocaust Project: Born to Remember will provide tools to help students stand up to bullies.

The event is free and open to the public.
