Position opening: Graduate Assistant in research and social media
Graduate Assistant – one scholarly journal: International Journal of Interactive Communication Systems and Technologies – and assist Chair of Faculty with outreach and social media communications.

Term of appointment: One-year assignment, renewable for second year, beginning with the Fall 2014 semester. Assignment is 8 months, late August until early May. Fall semester starts in late August.
Salary: $6,400 ($3,200 per semester) annual stipend plus fully paid tuition and fees.
Requirements: Undergraduate degree in journalism, mass communication, media studies, or similar degree with professional and/or student experience in print media. Excellent copyediting and proofreading skills. (Preferred: Aptitude for, and strong interest in, research in journalism/mass communication.) Applicants for this assistantship must already have been admitted into the M.A. program and must commit to enroll in a minimum of nine (9) credits per semester.
Primary duties: To serve as the editorial assistant to the editor of scholarly journal headquartered at Point Park University. Assist the journal’s editor in all aspects of the journals’ operations, including potentially communicating with Editorial Advisory Board members and/or article and essay authors. This graduate assistant will also assist the Chair of Faculty in outreach and social media communications, as assigned. Assistant will work 20 hours per week, 10 hours for each respective assignment, except during vacations and holidays. This graduate assistant will report to associate professor Dr. Tatyana Dumova for the journal responsibilities, to Dr. Heather Starr Fiedler, Faculty Chair, and to Dr. Steve Hallock, Director of the School’s Graduate Programs.
