Assistant Professor - Cinema Arts, Editing

The Cinema Arts Department in the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position to begin Fall 2014 at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The successful candidate will be able to teach the full range of courses in the Department’s Editing Concentration, including advanced-level and undergraduate thesis courses, as well as general filmmaking courses with a narrative focus at the introductory and intermediate level.   

For a tenure-track appointment an MFA or other appropriate terminal degree in film production, digital media or a related field is required.  The ideal candidate will also have significant professional experience in editing/post-production, and a record of successful teaching at the university level. 

With over 250 full-time undergraduate students, the Cinema Arts Department is one of three departments in the University's prestigious and nationally recognized Conservatory of Performing Arts. The department offers B.A. degrees in Cinema Production, Screenwriting and Animation. Acceptance into the programs are competitive, portfolio-based and at the discretion of the Cinema faculty. Once enrolled, Cinema students follow a rigorous 8-term course sequence that requires extensive crew collaboration, creative and technical mastery, as well as artistic vision and execution.
