CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Point Park University women's soccer team improved to 3-0 KIAC with a 2-1, double-overtime victory at Cincinnati Christian on Saturday night (Oct. 12).
Senior Emily Levier scored in the 106th minute to give the Pioneers (5-8, 3-0 KIAC) the important, conference win and keep them unbeaten in KIAC play. It was also the first road victory of the year for Point Park, which had been 0-5 on the road going in.
Cincinnati Christian (4-9, 2-2 KIAC) tied the score and forced overtime when Valerie Maslyn got the equalizer with just under 14 minutes remaining in regulation.
Point Park had full control of the shot advantage, and that was true for the overtimes as well. The Pioneers led in shots, 45-11, for the game, and that included a 7-0 edge in the two overtimes.
Point Park had plenty of attack the first half with 22 shots compared to just two for CCU. Senior KiLeigh Williams got the Pioneers on the board for the 1-0 lead 10 minutes before the half.
At 3-0 KIAC, Point Park is halfway done with its conference schedule. Point Park still has Brescia (Ky.) (1-2 KIAC), Carlow (2-1 KIAC) and Asbury (Ky.) (2-0 KIAC) left to play in the KIAC. The Pioneers' next game is home versus Maine-Fort Kent at 12 p.m.
