Point Park women's golf places fifth at NCAA Division I Robert Morris Classic

HOPEWELL TWP., Pa. -- Point Park University women's golf placed fifth of five teams at the NCAA Division I Robert Morris Colonial Classic held Oct. 7-8. The Pioneers shot respectable scores of 375 and 361 in the 36-hole event, but all the other teams in attendance were from NCAA Division I.
St. Francis (Pa.) won the team title with a two-day total of 640 (322-318) followed by Robert Morris (328-317), Youngstown State (327-327) and Niagara (339-342).
Point Park's Karina Palmberg shot 88 both days to tie for 20th place individually. Caroline Collins tied for 24th with rounds of 93 and 87. The 87 was the lowest round shot by a Point Park player in the tournament.
Emily Slifka (99-91) and Lauren Lauren Martauz (95-95) were both tied for 29th. Chloe Callison came in 32nd for the Pioneers.
There were only five rounds in the 70s for the tournament. One of them was by medalist Halley Morell of Robert Morris, who shot 74 in the final round to win by one stroke over two players from St. Francis (Pa.).
The Robert Morris Colonial Classic was the final event of the fall schedule for the Pioneers. Point Park will compete in a full schedule of events in the spring. Check back for information on spring tournaments in the future.
