PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University women's basketball and head coach Tony Grenek have signed another transfer with the addition of guard Lauren Mrazik, who was at Lake Erie College last year.
A 2012 Serra Catholic High School graduate, Mrazik did not play in any games while taking a medical redshirt last season at Lake Erie. She will have four years of eligibility remaining when she arrives at Point Park as a freshman for the 2013-14 season.
Mrazik, a 5-5 shooting guard, was a three-year letter winner at Serra Catholic, where she was a team captain as a senior. She averaged 9.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game for the Eagles. An excellent long-range shooter, Mrazik set a school record with six 3-pointers in one game.
Mrazik was a member of the PA Storm AAU team and was a PA Hoops Classic All-Star. She was also a member of the Dean's List at Serra Catholic.
"In signing Lauren, we are getting another excellent 3-point shooter," said coach Grenek, who is entering his third year with the Pioneers. "It's always nice when you can stretch the defense offensively. She's another solid addition for us."
Point Park women's basketball is coming off its two best seasons ever. The Pioneers were 25-7 last year, 23-7 the year before and have won back-to-back conference tournament championships. Point Park has three of five starters returning from last year's team, which made the NAIA Division II national tournament for the second year in a row.
