Kristen Veseleny named Capital One (R) Academic All-District First Team

PITTSBURGH – Point Park University senior Kristen Veseleny, a native of Pleasant Hills, Pa., has been named to the 2012 Capital One (R) Academic All-District Women’s Basketball First Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Wednesday. Veseleny is on the District 1 First Team in the College Division. The College Division is for NAIA, Canadian and junior colleges.
The Capital One ® Academic All-District teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Members of CoSIDA nominate student-athletes from their schools and then vote on the district ballots.
Veseleny, a 5-8 guard/forward who graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, has a 3.62 GPA as a multimedia major in the School of Communication.
Veseleny is a three-year starter who is averaging 5.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game this year. She has started 13 of 20 games this year and entered the starting lineup at the beginning of Point Park’s current, 12-game winning streak.
Veseleny is a two-time NAIA Scholar-Athlete, which is reserved for juniors and seniors with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. She is also a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society Point Park Rho Chapter.
Point Park (17-4, 8-0 AMC) is ranked No. 25 in this week’s NAIA Division II Top 25 Poll. The Pioneers visit Houghton on Saturday at 4 p.m.
