Point Park sweeps Daemen, gets first AMC road win of season

AMHERTST, N.Y. -- In search of its first American Mideast Conference victory on the road this year, the Point Park University volleyball team responded with a 3-0 win at Daemen Saturday.
Point Park (23-7) improved to 4-4 in the AMC and snapped its four-game AMC road losing streak in winning by scores of 25-19, 25-19, 25-19. The Pioneers started their AMC schedule 2-0, but had lost four away matches in a row.
Point Park defeated Malone, 3-1, Thursday to improve its AMC home record to 3-0. Overall, the Pioneers are 7-0 at home, where they have three of there four remaining conference matches beginning with Monday's showdown with Northwestern Ohio (3 p.m.).
On Saturday, Ashley Zietak (Pittsburgh/Brashear) turned in her biggest performance since returning from a hand injury. The junior middle hitter registered a team-high 14 kills in her fourth match since returning from the injury, which kept her out for 20 contests.
Rachel Roddy (Greensburg/Greensburg Salem) turned in nine kills and 11 digs while Megan Lamens (New Baltimore/Berlin Bros.) and Lindsey Oberacker (Erie/McDowell) each tallied seven kills. Oberacker also had three aces.
Alyssa Hall (Moon/Moon Area) totaled 16 assists and nine digs, and Katie Geary (Pittsburgh/Shaler) had 17 assists.
Amanda Ardinger (Moon/Moon Area) led the Pioneers with 12 digs.
