CANTON, Ohio -- The Point Park University softball team won two AMC games at Malone Saturday. The Pioneers (14-13, 4-2 AMC) rallied to win game one, 6-4, and got an early lead in winning the night cap, 6-1, over Malone (11-14, 4-2 AMC).
In the first game, Point Park scored two runs in the sixth and four more in the seventh for their second come-back win in a row. The Pioneers beat Ursuline, 9-6, after trailing, 6-3, on Thursday. The rally spoiled Malone's perfect AMC record. The homestanding Pioneers had been 4-0 in the league prior to Saturday.
Danielle Dorunda had three RBIs and a key, two-run homer in the sixth to aid the rally. Lindsey Pesanka was 2 for 3, and Olivia Sorce drove in two runs.
Winning pitcher Kristen Zelenka (4-1) pitched a complete game with five strikeouts and one walk.
Point Park cruised to a 6-1 win in the nightcap as Ashley Morran, Amanda Ardinger and Teresa Davis each homered. The Pioneers led, 3-0, after two innings before tacking on to their lead in later innings.
Morran, Pesanka and Ardinger each had two hits, and Ardinger drove in a couple of runs.
Lindsey Inzana (4-5) got the victory in five innings of work. She struck out two, walked none and gave up one run on five hits before giving way to reliever Kelsey Robertson, who worked two scoreless innings to close things out.
Point Park was scheduled to visit Slippery Rock Sunday, but the doubleheader was postponed earlier in the week. The Pioneers will get back into AMC play when they host Walsh Tuesday at 3 p.m.
