PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University goalkeeper Mitchell Kelman was named the American Mideast Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played Oct. 10-16. The sophomore from Frederick, Md., won the award for the third time this year after having 20 saves and just one goal against in the Pioneers' 2-0 showing last week.

Kelman, who is in his first year as starter, led Point Park (10-3-1, 5-2-1 AMC) to a pair of important wins at Houghton and at Roberts Wesleyan with his strong play in goal.

Kelman faced an early, 1-0 deficit in the game at Houghton, but he held firm long enough for Point Park to comeback for a 2-1 victory in double overtime. Kelman made 15 saves and gave up just the one goal in 107 minutes.

In the victory at Roberts Wesleyan, Kelman recorded five saves in 90 minutes to notch his sixth shutout in 13 starts this year.
