Schneckenreither named AMC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Sept. 21, 2010
PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University forward Manuel Schneckenreither was named the American Mideast Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played Sept. 13-19.
Schneckenreither, a freshman from Austria, had a pair of two-goal games last week to lead Point Park to a couple of wins. Schneckenreither scored four goals in two games and had two game-winning goals to help the Pioneers improve to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in the AMC.
Schneckenreither started his week on Sept. 14 by scoring the first two goals of Point Park's 3-0 shutout of non-conference Westminster.
Two days later, Schneckenreither scored both goals in Point Park's 2-1, AMC victory over visiting Walsh. Schneckenreither scored in the third minute to set the early tone, and after Walsh tied things up late, the 5-7 forward hammered home the game-winner in the 84th minute.
The win over Walsh snapped Point Park's streak of 12 conference games without a victory.
On the year, Schneckenreither has seven goals in the first six games of his career. As of this week, his seven goals rank him 13th in the NAIA in goals per game at 1.170. His three game-winning goals rank second in the country, and he has three two-goal games.
Schneckenreither and the Pioneers visit non-conference Ohio Valley on Saturday (1 p.m.) before getting back into AMC play Tuesday with a home date versus Malone (7 p.m.).
