Point Park men's soccer has five Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes for 2013

PITTSBURGH -- The Point Park University men's soccer team was among the NAIA national leaders with five players being named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes for the 2013 season. The Pioneers tied a program record for most NAIA Scholar-Athletes in one year and were not far behind national leader Goshen (Ind.) College with an NAIA-best seven scholar-athletes.
There were a total of 355 student-athletes named Daktronics-NAIA Men's Soccer Scholar-Athletes nationwide this year. The award is earned by juniors and seniors with a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.
Making the grade for Point Park this year were seniors and repeat winners Matt Dziak (D, North Versailles, Pa.) and Anil Kapur (D, London, England) as well as first-time honorees Gabriel Colombo (F, Sao Paulo, Brazil), Jonty Loukes (M, Sheffield, England) and Khaled Zena (F, Gaza Strip, Palestine), all juniors.
Dziak is a senior defender with a 3.65 GPA in criminal justice. Kapur is a senior defender with a 3.80 GPA in sports, arts and entertainment management.
Colombo is a junior forward with a 3.82 GPA in cinema production. Loukes and Zena both major in business administration with GPAs of 3.85 and 3.83, respectively. Loukes is a sophomore athletically but a junior academically.
Dziak was the KIAC Defensive Player of the Year, and Loukes was the runner-up in the KIAC Offensive Player of the Year voting.
