Four double digit scorers lead Point Park in win
West Mifflin, PA -- On Saturday afternoon the Point Park Men’s Basketball won their conference game with a 111-102 win over Wilberforce University.
Point Park was led in scoring by sophomore point guard T.J. Heatherington with 23 points on 9 of 16 from the floor and senior forward Kris Douse had a workman like double-double scoring 21 points with a game high 18 rebounds, 9 in the first half.
Other high scorers for Point Park were senior guard Jimmy Sherwood and senior guard Josh Trocchio each having 19 points with Trocchio making a game high 6 three-pointers.
Wilberforce was led by junior guard Chris Olafioye with 33 points and both junior guard Darius Foster and Trey Scott produced double-doubles. Foster scored 16 points with a team high 13 rebounds while Scott scored 22 points and bringing down 12 rebounds.
With the win Point Park’s record is now 8-3 overall with a 2-1 conference record while Wilberforce is now 2-11 with a 0-5 conference record.
Also, with the win it moves Point Park head coach Bob Rager one win closer to tying Jerry Conboys’ school record of 305 wins. Coach Rager now stands at 303 wins and Point Park’s next game is a road conference game Tuesday night January 11 against Daemen. This will be the second part of a Men’s and Women’s doubleheader and should the men’s team win Tuesday, Coach Rager can tie Conboys’ record at home on Saturday January 15 against Cedarville.
