PITTSBURGH -- The Point Park University men's basketball schedule has been released with the Pioneers playing 27 games beginning Nov. 6 with its home opener versus Lourdes (Ohio) at 7 p.m.
The Pioneers were 14-11 overall, 8-7 KIAC last year and have another challenging test on tap for this season. Point Park will play 11 home games, 12 road games and four games at a neutral court.
Point Park will once again play its home games at CCAC-South Gym in West Mifflin, Pa., which has been the home court of the Pioneers since the 1996-97 season.
A bulk of Point Park's schedule will be the 17 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference games, which begin Nov. 12 at home versus KIAC newcomer IU Kokomo (3 p.m.).
The conference schedule includes a home-and-home series versus eight of the KIAC teams and one game at a neutral court versus St. Louis College of Pharmacy. The KIAC preseason favorite is IU Southeast, which was an NAIA Division II national semifinalist last year.
The Pioneers will hit the ground running as they start their season with four games in four days Nov. 6-9. The season opener is at home Nov. 6 versus Lourdes (Ohio), which was 22-10 last year and has been to back-to-back NAIA Division II national tournaments.
Point Park then goes on the road Nov. 7-9 for three games at the Ohio Christian Tournament. The first game there will be versus NAIA Division II preseason No. 6 Robert Morris (Ill.), which has been an NAIA Division I power until moving down to NAIA Division II this year.
The Pioneers will also seed NAIA opponents Trinity International (Ill.) and host Ohio Christian at the Ohio Christian Tournament.
Point Park's non-conference schedule includes 10 games. The Pioneers will see Lourdes (Ohio) for a home-and-home series and will also play at NCAA Division II power West Liberty (W.Va.) to highlight the non-conference schedule.
Besides the three games at the Ohio Christian Tournament, the non-conference slate also includes a date with NCAA Division III Centre (Ky.) University and matchups versus Penn State-Fayette and Penn State-Beaver.
