PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University senior Dylan Grunn was named the Kentucy Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for his performance on Sept. 22 at the St. Vincent Meet. It is the second time this year that Grunn received the weekly honor.
Grunn, a team captain from Honesdale, Pa., placed fifth individually with a time of 26 minutes, 53 seconds at the challenging St. Vincent layout. The course featured multiple, long, steady climbs up hills during the 8K track.
Grunn has placed in the top-five in each of the three meets thus far this year. He was named the KIAC Runner of the Week when he placed second at the Waynesburg meet Sept. 7 with a time of 26:55. He had the best time of his career Sept. 15 when he finished the PSU-Behrend race in 26:40.
Although his time of 26:53 at St. Vincent was slower than the previous week, the nature of the course was the main reason for the slower time. In fact, it probably was a stronger performance.
Point Park and Grunn are off until Oct. 6 when they visit the Carnegie Mellon Invitational in Schenley Park. The women's race is at 1 p.m. and men's race at 1:45 p.m.
