PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University baseball head coach Loren Torres signed a key addition to his 2013 pitching staff with Patrick Kennedy, a right-handed pitcher from Montour High School, inking with the Pioneers earlier this month.
Kennedy, who is 5-9 and 175 pounds, will enroll at Point Park as a freshman in the fall of 2012.
"We are very glad to have PK join our efforts to compete nationally," said Torres, whose team is currently ranked No. 10 in the NAIA. "He throws in the mid to upper eighties and has command of all his pitches.
"Patrick is also a great student with a 4.2 GPA. He symbolizes what we consider to be the complete package of student/person/player -- a student first, a person of character and a good athlete. We are excited to have him on board next fall, and we know that he will impact our pitching staff during his entire career."
Kennedy is currently finishing his senior year at Montour and is a standout pitcher in the WPIAL. He will join a Point Park pitching staff that currently ranks in the top 10 in the NAIA in team ERA at 2.94 under pitching coach Bryan Neal.
