Financial aid is based in part on the student and family's documented income and circumstances. If there is a change in the family's finances after the financial aid application is completed, the Office of Financial Aid may recalculate your eligibility based on anticipated income for the next year.

The following examples are circumstances that can be appealed:

  • Loss of job for at least 10 weeks
  • Reduction of income for at least 10 weeks
  • Reduction of child support
  • Separation or divorce
  • Any other financial circumstances that may affect the student attending Point Park University

This type of appeal, due to an extenuating circumstance, will be reviewed by the director of financial aid after all required documentation is collected. The review process can take up to three weeks. Once a decision is determined, a formal letter will be sent via U.S. mail with the outcome.

To appeal your financial aid due to an extenuating circumstance, please visit the financial aid forms page and look for the links to Special Conditions Worksheets. Worksheets are specific to the academic year and to the student dependency status, so be sure to choose the one that fits your situation.
