Completing Your Doctoral Degree in Three Years or Less

Devoted to theory, research and practice in the community, the courses in the Ed.D. program at Point Park University prepare you to identify, analyze and apply the essential elements of leadership and administration.

The 54-credit doctoral program schedule is organized into three blocks:

  • Block 1: Choice of Professional Leadership, K-12 Administration or Individualized Concentration track (up to 18 credits may be transferred into the individualized track pending approval of the program director; if fewer than 18 credits are transferred, the remainder of courses needed will be selected from the Professional Leadership track by the program director);
  • Block 2: Theory and Research core courses; and
  • Block 3: Dissertation courses.

Professional Leadership

Fall 1 The Art and Science of Authenticity in Leadership One night per week for eight weeks
Fall 2 The Art and Science of Visionary Leadership (same)
Spring 1 The Art and Science of Cultural/Relational Leadership (same)
Spring 2 The Art and Science of Quality/Capacity Leadership (same)
Summer 1 The Art and Science of Systems and Service Leadership (same)
Summer 2 The Art and Science of Communication in Leadership Four day intense session including the weekend


K-12 Administration

Fall 1 The Principalship One night per week for eight weeks

Individualized Concentration

Transfer in up to 18 post-master’s credits pending approval of the program director; remaining courses needed will be selected by the program director.
