Advance into Administration with Our Fully Online Certificate Program
Our fully online K-12 school principal certificate is an 18-credit, graduate certificate program designed for certified teachers who are interested in broadening their career opportunities and moving into administrative positions within schools.
Applicants must hold a master's degree in education to be eligible for this program. Candidates interested in obtaining K-12 principal certification who do not hold a master's degree are welcome to enroll in our M.A. in Educational Administration, which includes principal certification.
To be eligible for certification by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, candidates must have three years of professional experience in an educational setting that is related to the instructional process and pass the required Praxis exams.

Courses in our 18-credit principal certification program are:
- Educational Administration
- The Principalship
- Clinical Supervision and Leadership
- Applied Research Practicum I: School Administrator - School Principal K-12
- Applied Research Practicum II: School Administrator - School Principal K-12
- Differentiated Instructional Practices
Through the practicum courses in this program, students will be required to complete the mandated number of hours in a K-12 classroom environment. Additionally, successful completion of the Praxis Exam for Administration is required for certification.
In order to receive certification at the end of the program, candidates must provide a chief school administrator’s verification of the completion of a minimum of three years of professional experience in an instructional area and must be recommended for certification by the Point Park University authorized certification officer.
