Point Park MBA Students Advance To Final Round of Business Idea Challenge

Friday, April 09, 2010

Teams participating in the Pittsburgh Central Keystone Innovation Zone, or PCKIZ, Business Idea Challenge move to the final round of the competition on Monday, April 12 at Point Park University.  The four first place winners from each participating college will deliver their business idea presentations to a panel of judges to determine the overall winners of the competition.

Point Park University students Dave Proctor, Larry Burkhart, Felicia Kmetz and Melissa Altman and Point Park alumnus Brad Smith won the first round of presentations at Point Park with their idea TeamProjectsOnly.com. The concept of TeamProjectsOnly.com is to develop a job searching website that brings pre-registered, pre-qualified teams of information technology professionals to projects. Companies in need of information technology services and teams of programmers are brought together in a web-based marketplace with a facilitator who assists both parties through the project life cycle

The TeamProjectsOnly.com team will compete against participants from Carlow University, Duquesne University and Community College of Allegheny County in the final round of presentations for a chance to win the PCKIZ Business Idea Challenge and the opportunity to develop and implement their concept.

In the first round at Point Park University, second and third place was awarded to Ashley Goodsell for her RunBud Inc. concept and Douglas Crame for his PortaBeer idea respectively. Honorable mentions were awarded to Dan McVeagh for Kids Compute, Sarah Urick for ClipFree and Kevin Drobish for EmbolmerNet.org.
