About the Writers' Series

The Department of Humanities and Human Sciences in the School of Arts and Sciences hosts Writers’ Series events each year. These events are offered through Point Park's English/creative writing program and include public lectures and master classes in the areas of fiction, nonfiction and poetry.

The public lectures are free and open to the public while the master classes are exclusively for Point Park University students.

Wicker

Fall 2014 Featured Speaker: Poet Marcus Wicker

Award-winning poet Marcus Wicker was the featured speaker at the fall 2014 Point Park University Writers' Series.

Wicker is the author of Maybe the Saddest Thing, selected by DA Powell for the National Poetry Series. His work has appeared in Poetry, American Poetry Review, Third Coast, Ninth Letter and many other magazines. Wicker's awards include a 2011 Ruth Lilly Fellowship, Pushcart Prize, as well as fellowships from Cave Canem, and The Fine Arts Work Center.

He is an assistant professor of English at University of Southern Indiana, poetry editor of Southern Indiana Review and director of the New Harmony Writers Workshop.
