Point Park University Announces Appointment of New Board Chair

Thursday, August 11, 2011
Point Park University has announced that Anne Lewis was unanimously elected by the Board of Trustees to serve as chair of the Board, where she will lead the University’s capital campaign to support its Academic Village Initiative.

Lewis is Board Chair and co-owner of Oxford Development Company. Family owned since its inception in 1963, Oxford is one of the region’s most prominent privately held enterprises. Lewis is particularly passionate about youth-centered projects and has spearheaded major development efforts for the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, Fox Chapel Country Day School and Shady Side Academy.

“Point Park is changing the landscape of Downtown Pittsburgh,” said Lewis. “The Academic Village Initiative focuses on addressing students’ needs and will serve to enhance the academic and social experiences of Point Park’s growing population. I am excited to be part of that positive momentum as chair of the University’s board.”

Lewis also co-chairs the Pittsburgh Promise fundraising committee and is honorary chair of the Children’s Museum’s Connect Capital Campaign. She is a board member of the United Way of Allegheny County, the Jewish Healthcare Foundation, Child Watch of Pittsburgh and The Fred Rogers Company. Additionally, she serves on the advisory councils of the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine and Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz College.

“Anne is a tremendous supporter of long-term, sustainable development that benefits young people and communities as a whole. She brings over two decades of civic leadership to Point Park,” said Paul Hennigan, president of Point Park University. “We are thrilled to have her leadership, guidance and expertise on our board.”

Lewis succeeds Nancy D. Washington, Ph.D., who was elected as Chair of the Point Park Board of Trustees in 2008. Washington was originally elected to the board in 1999 and will continue to serve after the transition.
