Point Park's win streak ends with 3-1 loss at Shawnee State to open road trip

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- The Point Park University volleyball team saw its seven-match winning streak come to an end Friday with a 3-1 loss at Shawnee State.
Point Park (18-11, 8-2 KIAC) had a 17-12 lead in the first set against Shawnee State but dropped nine of the next 13 points as Shawnee State (14-11, 6-6 MSC) tied things up at 21-21. The Pioneers then retook the lead, 24-22, only to drop the last four points and lose the first set, 26-24.
Point Park tied things up in the second set winning 25-19 however lost the third set 25-23. The Pioneers dropped the fourth set 25-16 to lose the match. Shawnee State held advantages in kills [59-50] and assists [52-48].
Middle hitter Nikki Inquartano led the team with 13 kills while outside hitter Roxanne Grundmeier added 10 and 15 digs. Setter Cara Bradley had 41 assists. Libero Olivia Fisher had a team high 17 digs and Cristiane Chaves chipped in with eight kills and 10 of the 15 Pioneers' blocks.
Point Park continues its road trip with a double header Saturday with an 11 a.m. match at KIAC foe Indiana University Southeast and a 1 p.m. faceoff versus Campbellsville University.
