Major in Photojournalism
You’re visual. You are concerned about current events. And because you think pictures can tell great stories, we’ll give you a snapshot of our photojournalism major. Our program will expose you to a variety of photography, writing, reporting, design and multimedia courses, and you will learn how to effectively combine words and visuals.
You can use the University’s darkroom, digital photography lab and computer classrooms and take traditional, digital and multimedia photography and editing courses. Writing is also part of this degree, as photojournalists often report as well as take photographs. Explore the facilities and equipment at Point Park.
You can work on the student-run media and departmental publications and offices. You can publish your work regionally and nationally through the Point Park News Service. Freelance, volunteer and internship opportunities are plentiful at local newspapers, magazines, photography studios, production houses, advertising agencies, public relations firms, hospitals, museums and nonprofit organizations.
