Media in the real world
Point Park University understands that learning isn't only done in the classroom. That's why the School of Communication offers annual trips and events for its students to experience the world of communication off campus. During their time here, students can travel to different cities and countries to talk to professionals about the direction in which the communication industry is headed.

Washington, D.C. Trip

This annual trip is for undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in visiting media outlets in Washington, D.C. and learning from professionals in their field.
The fee covers bus transportation, hotel accommodations, an alumni dinner and tickets to a museum. Students can also apply for scholarship money to cover a portion of the fee.
Students of all majors in the School of Communication are welcome, and the trip is beneficial to everyone because the group splits up to visit relevant media.
In past years, print journalism, multimedia and broadcast students have visited radio stations, magazines and television stations, while public relations and advertising students got to see the inner workings of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Photography and photojournalism students also visit locations relevant to their majors, including the White House Photography Office.
