Point Park University Honoring Pittsburgh Legend Myron Cope With a Day of Panel Events, Impersonations
Point Park University's School of Communication will celebrate Myron Cope Day February 7 by hosting three panels about his time as a communication professional in Pittsburgh.
Bernie Ankney, dean of the School of Communication, and Andrew Conte, director of the Center for Media Innovation, will emcee the panel discussions, which will be held in 200 Lawrence Hall from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
"Myron Cope forged a legendary career that is worthy of both honor and reflection," Ankney said. "His importance to the Pittsburgh communication landscape is reflected by the impressive professionals willing to take part in our panel events so they can discuss his legacy and impact."

Myron Cope: Print Journalist
10 - 10:45 a.m.
Panelists: Ed Bouchette, senior staff writer, The Athletic, and Tom McMillan, co-director, Pittsburgh Center for Sports Media and Marketing
Myron Cope: Broadcast Journalist
10:45 - 11:30 a.m.
Panelists: Alby Oxenreiter, sports director, WPXI, and Andrew Stockey, sports director, WTAE
Myron Cope: Radio Color Commentator
11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Panelists: Greg Brown, play-by-play announcer, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Bill Hillgrove, play-by-play announcer, Pittsburgh Steelers
Myron Cope Sound-alike Competitions
The event will conclude at 12:15 p.m. with two Myron Cope sound-alike competitions judged by Greg Brown, Keith Paylo, vice president and dean of students at Point Park, and Kevin Taylor, associate athletic director and director of athletic communications at Point Park.
The first Myron Cope sound-alike competition will be for high school students who plan to attend Point Park to study sports communication or broadcasting. The prospective students can win a $500 scholarship for the Fall 2022 semester. Prospective students can enter their Cope sound-alike videos by going to YouTube, posting a video, and emailing the link to rankney@pointpark.edu. Five, $500 scholarships will be awarded.
The second Myron Cope sound-alike competition will be for people who attend the Myron Cope Day events. The top three Cope sound-alikes will win a Point Park sweatshirt. Other contestants will receive a Point Park t-shirt or mug.
