"There’s so much culture in Pittsburgh, and being able to experience it unfiltered is one of the coolest things about going to Point Park. It is far more fulfilling than going to a school that is just a campus and nothing else."
Why did you choose Point Park University?
Growing up in the South Hills, I visited Downtown Pittsburgh often for various reasons. My dad worked in the city, and I fell in love with it from afar. Attending Point Park fulfilled my dream of living in Pittsburgh, the greatest city on Earth. On top of that, the School of Communication's degree programs are better than any others you will find in the area. Point Park offers a range of hands-on experiences you can't find at other universities.
Describe your involvement with campus media organizations.
Throughout my time at Point Park, I have been involved with all three student-run media organizations. I am the editor-in-chief of The Globe, Point Park’s newspaper. This experience has fostered my growth as a writer and leader. It has prepared me professionally more than any classroom could and serves as a great example of the genuine, hands-on learning opportunities that Point Park offers students outside of the classroom. I am also the news director for WPPJ, the on-campus radio station, and I have DJed several shows for it. I also appear on camera for shows produced by U-View, the student-run television station. The best advice I can give to incoming students is to get involved with these organizations. You will meet great people and gain valuable experience.
What do you like about going to school in Downtown Pittsburgh?
Downtown is the center of the city, and I love how connected it is to everything. We have a pretty robust public transportation setup in Pittsburgh, and I love that I can easily travel to a variety of destinations. There’s so much culture in Pittsburgh, and being able to experience it unfiltered is one of the coolest things about going to Point Park. It is far more fulfilling than going to a school that is just a campus and nothing else.

What are your favorite things to do around campus or the city when you’re not in class?
I play saxophone in a comedy duo band called The Moon is a Hologram, (@moonisahologram on all social media). My education has helped me a lot to pursue creative projects like this, as I have a lot of video production experience that I am able to use when making music videos, promos and the occasional Christmas special. I have access to a high-quality recording space on campus, which is cool. Aside from that, I love going to local museums, the Strip District and the Dormont neighborhood, where there's a great burger place called Moonlit Burgers right next to a historic movie theater, The Hollywood Theater. I also love hanging out around campus and reading in the library.
Why would you recommend Point Park to a prospective student?
Point Park is a great school to attend to find out who you are, not who someone wants you to be.
