Describe your job duties as an International Development fellow with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

I mentor Latin American and other international players to ensure that they stay consistent in their transition, development of basic mental skills and performance-related tasks. I help to develop players as professionals, ensuring that cultural differences don’t limit their growth and potential.

What do you love about working in the sports industry?

I have always been passionate about sports since a very early age. Spending every day working in baseball doesn't feel like work, and that's what I love the most.

Why did you choose Point Park?

A classmate from PRoBaseball High School & Academy told me that he was going to play baseball at Point Park. After I did my research online, Point Park ended up being my top choice, so I decided to contact Coach Loren Torres. The SAEM program was exactly what I was looking for, and I knew it would increase my chances of finding a job opportunity in baseball when I graduated.

How did the SAEM program prepare you for your career?

I have done a good job so far thanks to all the classes that I took. The SAEM program is unique, and I felt very prepared for a career in baseball when I graduated. I am very grateful for the entire faculty at Point Park. They all helped me get to where I am today.

Why would you recommend Point Park to a prospective student?

Point Park has a very special campus in Downtown Pittsburgh, and the location allows its students to explore jobs or internship opportunities all around the city. It’s a unique environment where students from all over the world are experiencing high-level learning and professional development on a daily basis. Furthermore, Point Park’s athletic department has a tradition of winning and developing student-athletes on and off the field.

What career advice do you have for current SAEM students?

Believe in yourself, and go after your dreams. Make a plan, set short-term and long-term goals, stay focused and work hard to achieve them.
